OUR SERVICES

         SENSORY GARDENS

         RENOVATING EXISTING BORDERS

We focus on creating an environment suited to your needs.   There are solutions to all budgets.

EVERYTHING EDIBLE

If you like the idea of including fruits, herbs or edible flowers into the mix, I can advise you on the best plants to choose.  They often work best intermingling with the other garden plants and they will always be positioned within easy reach.

Fruit trees are selected to be on dwarfing rootstocks to ensure correct sizing when mature.  The smallest can even be low enough to be knee-high, known as a 'step-over'.

Edible flowers are colourful and can make a vibrant addition to sweet & savoury dishes.

HORTICULTURAL THERAPY

This form of occupational therapy helps psychologically and physically with short or long term illnesses and provides proven physiological health benefits.  It is often requested for larger gardens, such as residential care and hospital rehabilitation centres but, for smaller gardens too, aspects of this therapy are adopted very effectively.

For complex & specialist therapeutic applications, I have trusted professional consultant horticultural therapists to call upon if required.

I am an advocate for therapeutic gardening, having worked & volunteered with several specialist charities.   It's highly adaptable for individual needs and the benefits to participants can be life-changing.

WILDLIFE

If you would like to see more wildlife in your garden, small adjustments to a garden design at its inception can strongly influence the animals and insects found in it for many years to come.

Bees - providing bees with food over winter by using some winter flowering plants. Using more single flowered plants to improve pollinating insects' food source throughout the year.

Birds - providing nesting areas such as bird boxes, climbing plants and wall shrubs.

Hedgehogs - a small hole cut in the fence (no larger than a CD) to allow them to wander freely overnight.

Ponds - are invaluable in encouraging wildlife.

THE 5 SENSES

We introduce sensory elements into every project we do, the extent being dependent upon a variety of factors, the most important being the needs of those using the garden.  It's important to incorporate them into both the hard landscaping and the planting schemes from the very beginning of the design process to ensure that there is a smooth and natural integration of all sensory and therapeutic aspects.

CONTAINERS & RAISED BEDS

All raised bedding and containers elevate plants to be closer for scent, sight and touch. They are especially helpful for those who have limited movement who cannot bend down easily.

Containers can be a cost-effective enhancement to building entrances and terraces to introduce vibrant colour, scent or perhaps simply an element of fun.
